Rt Rev Bishop Moses Banja in the middle with his wife
In a momentous ceremony held at St. Paul's Cathedral Church in Namirembe, Rt Rev Moses Banja has been consecrated and enthroned as the sixth Bishop of Namirembe, succeeding the venerable Bishop Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira. The event, attended by dignitaries and believers alike, marked the beginning of a new era for the diocese.
King Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, in a heartfelt message delivered by Nnaalinya Lubuga Agnes Nabaloga, extended his congratulations to the newly consecrated Bishop. The King expressed confidence that Rt Rev Moses Banja was the right leader to guide the believers through the challenges of the present period.
Paying homage to the retired Bishop Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira, King Mutebi acknowledged the legacy left by his predecessor. He urged Bishop Banja to walk in the same footsteps, emphasising the importance of strong leadership in shepherding God's people. The King's message resonated with a call for effective leadership amidst prayers for success in the Bishop's pastoral duties.
The Prime Minister of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga (Katikkiro), reaffirmed the longstanding partnership between the Kingdom and the Church. He pledged the Kingdom's support to Bishop Banja in carrying out his responsibilities, highlighting the collaborative efforts needed for the mutual development of Buganda and the Church.
Katikkiro Mayiga outlined key priorities, urging Bishop Banja to address issues such as fighting poverty, AIDS, and promoting youth empowerment. Emphasizing the significance of implementing a master plan for Buganda, he stressed that the church plays a vital role in raising the standard of living for ordinary Christians. The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the retired Bishop for his dedicated service to the diocese of Namirembe.
