His Majesty Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II graciously addressed the people of Buganda directly from his palace, during a ceremony held at Namirembe Cathedral.
The event was organised to thank God for His life and to celebrate 31 years since ascending to the throne.
Full Message from the King
We are very delighted to reach this day when we commemorate and celebrate the 31st Coronation Anniversary of the Kabaka.
We thank God for the life He has given us and the medical care we have received from various countries.
We also thank the doctors for the treatment they have provided and continue to provide.
Although our health has significantly improved, due to medical conditions and doctors' advice, we could not join the event as usual.
We thank the Bishop of Namirembe, Moses Bbanja, the Dean of the Cathedral, and all the clergy who led this prayer. Even though we were not present in person due to medical reasons, we have been closely following all that has been happening.
There is a saying that "When the rain falls, we see how well-built the house is." This saying has proven true.
We always advise you to unite, uphold, and respect our customs and traditions, as neglecting these matters can give room to adversaries.
Ssaabasajja Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II
The situation we have been through in recent months has led some people, either unknowingly or deliberately, to defy and break our cultural norms and act inappropriately.
They have done many things to mislead our people about the throne and the Kingdom. This is very dangerous, and we urge you to be very cautious of such people.
For this reason, we remind our people of the following:
- Firstly: The Kabaka has a traditional process and procedures that are followed when he ascends to the throne, and he is not elected by the elders of the clans.
- Secondly: The key elders are well-known, and they know themselves and their responsibilities.
- Thirdly: The Kabaka rules the Kingdom with the help of the Katikkiro, who is chosen by the Kabaka himself, and there is no deputy to the Kabaka.
- Lastly: According to our customs, the Kabaka has the right to establish or abolish certain customs depending on the times.
We thank everyone, especially our youth abroad, for their love and loyalty to the throne. This love should be preserved and expressed with respect and humanity, as has been the tradition.
We thank all those who participated in this prayer and greatly appreciate the work done by the organisers.
May the Lord be with you all. I am very happy to speak with you!
