Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga has urged people living abroad—in America, Europe, Asia, and beyond—not to forget their roots.
He made these remarks while visiting the Mbuya residence of the late Owek. Tony Kiyimba Kaggwa, where he had gone to console his widow, Eva Kagwa, following the recent passing of their son, Kaggwa Kimera Kagwa, in Australia.
Katikkiro noted that the late Kimera Kagwa, despite living in Australia, was an active member of a group that unites the Kabaka’s people abroad. This, he said, was a sign that his parents had instilled in him a deep understanding and love for his culture.
Expressing his condolences to the bereaved family, the Katikkiro mourned the loss of a young life and prayed that God grants them strength while showing mercy to the departed soul.
