Hon. Joseph Kawuki addresses Kabaka’s chiefs on key kingdom matters

Buganda's Minister for Local Government, Kingdom Tours, and External Affairs, Oweek. Joseph Kawuki, has urged Kabaka's chiefs to consistently uphold their roles in line with the guiding principles of the Nnamutaayiika — the foundation of the kingdom's administration.

Speaking at Muganzirwazza during a training session for sub-county chiefs, their deputies, and representatives from various counties in Buganda, Oweek. Kawuki emphasized the need for dedication to duty, especially as the kingdom prepares for the upcoming political season. He called on the chiefs to reinforce the practice of communal work (bulungibwansi), hold regular meetings in their villages, and create time for rest to recharge for their responsibilities.

Oweek. Kawuki also reminded the chiefs to mobilize communities for the celebration of Kabaka’s birthday and to raise awareness about the fight against HIV/AIDS. Reports indicate a resurgence of HIV infections, particularly in Masaka, Kalangala, and Kyotera, sparking concerns within the kingdom.

Some of the sub-county chiefs expressed appreciation for the training, noting that it had equipped them with better skills to execute the kingdom's duties. They committed to strengthening the implementation of the Luwalo lwaffe initiative, which focuses on mobilizing resources and support for the kingdom’s projects.

The session also provided an opportunity for the chiefs to visit the Buganda Palace and engage with the kingdom's leadership, a moment they described as an honor.

This meeting is considered crucial as these chiefs play a key role in driving the kingdom's agenda and connecting with the grassroots to rally support for Buganda's development.
