The First Deputy Katikkiro, Owek. Prof. Twaha Kaawaase Kigongo, who also serves as Chairperson of the Kabaka Birthday Run Organising Committee, has announced that the Kabaka Birthday Run 2026 will be officially launched on 18 February 2026 and held on 12 April 2026.
The run will take place on the eve of celebrations marking the 71st birthday of His Majesty the Kabaka.
Owek. Prof. Kaawaase made the announcement during the first preparatory meeting held earlier today, where organisers reviewed last year’s run, assessing both successes and challenges, with the aim of improving preparations for the 2026 edition.
He said that lessons learned from previous editions would help strengthen planning for this year’s run, with a focus on increasing participation, enhancing security, and improving overall organisation of the event, which remains one of Buganda Kingdom’s most significant annual activities.
