The Kingdom of Buganda joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church in a thanksgiving and farewell ceremony for Pr. Dr. Moses Maka Ndimukika, Archbishop of the Church in Uganda, as he takes on a new international mission.
Representing the Kingdom at the event was Owek. Noah Kiyimba, Buganda Minister for Cabinet, Guests, and Special Duties in the Office of the Katikkiro.
Archbishop Maka has been appointed Executive Secretary of the East-Central Africa Division (ECD) of the Adventist Church, a body uniting 13 countries in East and Central Africa.
Minister Kiyimba read a message from the Katikkiro, Charles Peter Mayiga, who commended Archbishop Maka for strengthening ties between the Adventist Church and Buganda Kingdom.
“We shall always remember how you ably led us during the Kabaka’s birthday celebrations held at the Adventist Church in Najjanankumbi, where your sermon greatly inspired us,” the Katikkiro said in his message.
The Katikkiro wished him God’s guidance in his new mission and encouraged him to continue serving the Church with the same dedication he has always shown.
In his farewell remarks, Archbishop Maka expressed deep gratitude to those who had supported him throughout his ministry. He asked the faithful not to worry, assuring them that God would raise another leader who could serve even better.
Clerics from different denominations praised Archbishop Maka as a leader who had elevated the Church’s pastoral mission to the international stage. They pointed to his work in empowering elders and strengthening pastoral care, and prayed for God’s blessings on his new journey.
The ceremony was attended by the Kabaka’s County Chief, Omuk. Moses Luutu, the Minister for the Presidency, Hon. Babirye Milly Babalanda, various religious leaders, and a large congregation.
The Adventist Church is expected to formally install a new Archbishop on 26th of this month.
