Charles Bbaale Mayiga finally tied the knot with Sonia Nnaabagereka

The family of Buganda Prime Minister Charles Peter Mayiga is celebrating the joyful news of their son, Charles Bbaale Mayiga Junior, entering into matrimony with his long-time partner, Sonia Elizabeth Nnaabagereka.

The wedding took place on Saturday, February 10th, at St Mary’s Cathedral Rubaga in Kampala, where the couple exchanged their vows in the presence of the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Masaka, Severus Jjumba.

Blessing the marriage, Jjumba called the newlyweds to put God ahead of anything else and remain faithful to one another.

"This is a covenant that needs divine assistance. Uphold and respect your marriage vows and dedicate it to God. Above all, love one another," he said. Charles Bbale Mayiga is the son of the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga.

Numerous relatives, friends, and enthusiasts of the Buganda Kingdom attended the ceremony. Notable figures from the Buganda Kingdom and the central government, including Buganda Queen Nnaabagereka Sylvia Nagginda, Nnaalinnya Dorothy Nassolo, Nnaalinnya Lubuga Agnes Nabaloga, as well as leaders from the central government, such as the Speaker of Parliament Uganda Rt. Hon. Annet Anita Among, Chief Justice Alphonse Owiny Dollo, and others, were present to witness the couple say 'I do.'

The King's best wishes for a happy marriage were conveyed by Prince Kintu Wassajja. Following the ceremony, the newlyweds hosted a reception at the Kampala Serena Hotel, where the celebrations continued with the presence of family and friends. Hon. Anita Among, the chief guest, thanked the newlyweds' parents for nurturing and aligning their children with the norms, values, and cultures of the African society that respects the sanctity of marriage.

She advised the young couple to build their marriage on true love and friendship.

"You are coming from different backgrounds, and this comes with different values and attitudes. Make sure you get a mutual ground to live happily together. Be best friends if you are to have an eternal relationship," Among said.

Charles Bbale Mayiga's introduction to Sonia's parents took place on Saturday, December 16th, last year in Migadde, Katikamu, Bulemeezi, and the event was marked by unity and joy.
