The President of Rotary International, Stephanie Urchick, visited Bulange and met with Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, ministers, and other leaders of the Kabaka’s government. She was accompanied by Rotarians from various Rotary Clubs.
During the meeting, Katikkiro Mayiga outlined the Buganda Kingdom’s initiatives in health, education, and development, achieved through its partnership with Rotary. Stephanie Urchick expressed gratitude to the Kingdom for working with Rotary to achieve its mission of transforming lives.
She highlighted that Rotary members volunteer not for financial gain but to bring joy and change to the lives of those in need. Urchick affirmed her commitment to strengthening the collaboration between Rotary International and Buganda Kingdom to foster sustainable development and improve people’s livelihoods.

It should be noted that the Buganda Kingdom partnered with Rotary to promote environmental conservation and improve community well-being, particularly in health.
Speaking to the media, President Urchick noted her long-standing admiration for the Buganda Kingdom’s initiatives, adding that this collaboration will yield significant benefits for the people.
Katikkiro Mayiga thanked Rotary for aligning with Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II’s key development priorities. He also lauded Rotary’s unwavering commitment to community service, acknowledging that it is not easy to work selflessly without personal gain.
Among Rotary’s notable contributions are constructing a blood bank at Nsambya, supporting underprivileged children, cleaning water sources, building pipelines to provide clean water, and spearheading environmental conservation campaigns.

Rotary International boasts nearly 1.5 million members worldwide, dedicated to volunteer service. With over 46,000 Rotary Clubs globally, they continue to focus on various initiatives aimed at improving living conditions and empowering communities across the world.
On Saturday, January 11, the Peace Walk at Makerere University, led by PDG Mike Sebalu, will symbolize Rotary’s commitment to peace and reconciliation. In the afternoon, the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) ceremony at Kaazi Camping Grounds will empower young leaders with skills for a brighter future.
President Stephanie’s visit is expected to leave an indelible mark on Rotary Districts 9213 and 9214, strengthening partnerships and inspiring a new wave of service projects. Her departure on Sunday, January 12, will conclude a memorable week of fellowship and action.
She will also visit Kenya, Senegal, Tunisia, and Egypt before returning to Evanston, USA, at Rotary Headquarters on January 27, 2025.
