Owek. Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa has expressed concern over the growing fear of marriage among people today, noting that some even treat marriage with contempt or turn it into a joke — a sign of moral decline.
The Second Deputy Katikkiro and Treasurer of Buganda, Owek. Nsibirwa, made these remarks while attending the church service to bless the marriage of Ben Foster and Leah Nandugga at Namirembe Cathedral.
“Whenever a parent marries off a child in the right way, we celebrate them — because many people today fear marriage, while others turn it into a joke.”

He stressed that the family is the foundation on which morals, values, and the preparation of a nation’s future are built. Nsibirwa congratulated Foster and Nandugga for choosing a respectable path into marriage and wished them God’s blessings to guide them in their journey together.
Nsibirwa also praised the parents of the couple for raising them well and guiding them to this milestone.
He specifically commended Dr. Livingston Ddungu, the bride’s father, calling him a humble and hardworking man who achieved great success in education but remained down-to-earth. Nsibirwa encouraged young people to learn from his example and strive for excellence in life.

Bp. Henry Katumba Tamale, former Bishop of West Buganda, led the sermon and blessed the rings. He reminded the couple that marriage is God’s decision, and those who choose it must strengthen one another.
He acknowledged that marriage comes with challenges but urged the couple to hold on to God in every situation, promising that He will help them overcome. He gave them a blessing and called on all Baganda to stand with the couple to ensure their new journey is fruitful.
Ben Foster and Leah Nandugga were legally wedded earlier but came to church to seek God’s blessing for their marriage. Their rings were prayed for, symbolizing a commitment to walk under God’s guidance as they begin their life together.
