Nnamutayiika oversight committee visits Buddu, commends Pookino's innovative leadership

The Pookino of Buddu, Owek. Jude Muleke, welcomed the Second Deputy Katikkiro, Hon. Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, and the Buganda Finance Committee to inspect ongoing projects, including the Kingdom Hospital under construction at Mukungwe, Mut. III Mukiise, in Buddu County.

The Monitoring Committee for the Nnamutayiika Plan, led by the First Deputy Katikkiro, Owek. Prof. Twaha Kaawaase Kigongo, toured various projects on the Pookino’s premises in Buddu, including the Kingdom Sports Ground and the Pookino Nursery School.

The tour is part of the Kingdom’s efforts to review projects initiated in 2023 and assess their progress while addressing challenges and planning for adjustments needed to achieve the plan's targets by 2028.

Hon. Prof. Kaawaase emphasized that the three-day retreat aimed at evaluating completed work, ongoing initiatives, and future plans.and identifying gaps to ensure all set goals under the Nnamutayiika Plan are realized effectively.

In his remarks, Hon. Prof. Kaawaase praised Pookino Owek. Jude Muleke for spearheading impactful projects such as the sports ground and the legal protection of county land. He acknowledged these efforts for successfully safeguarding Kingdom land from encroachers, ensuring its use for Kingdom development.

Owek. Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa underscored the importance of safeguarding Kingdom land, advising that it should be utilized for development projects like coffee planting or afforestation. This would deter land grabbing and ensure its productive use.

He further commended the leadership in Buddu, particularly in Mut. III Mukiise, for their efforts to reclaim the sub-county’s land and establish the hospital project.

The retreat was attended by various leaders and stakeholders, including:

  • Owek. Prof. Twaha Kaawaase Kigongo, First Deputy Katikkiro
  • Owek. Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, Second Deputy Katikkiro
  • The Chairperson of the Council of Clan Heads, Omutaka Nnamwama Augustine Kizito Mutumba
  • Representatives from the Buganda Parliament
  • Ms. Josephine Nantege, Principal Secretary in the Katikkiro’s Office, among others.

This initiative is expected to strengthen Buganda’s development efforts in Buddu and ensure the achievement of the Nnamutayiika Plan’s goals by 2028.
