Nnabagereka encourages women to be hygienic to prevent disease

Nnabagereka Sylvia Nagginda was the Guest of Honor at a Women’s day event to raise hygiene awareness. She was welcomed by women leaders who led her to an exhibition ground to witness the work of different women in the society.

In her address, the Nnabagereka encouraged women to enhance their health status by maintaining good hygiene saying "but they shouldn't stop on that, they should also ensure that their plantations are well cared for including various foods being planted in the gardens."

This year’s events have been organized under the theme “Humanity is the source of development.” It is on this note that Nnabagereka encouraged women to embrace and practice this at home so that the country produces a useful generation with the desired morals adding that “Let us endeavor to work together with other people so that we can achieve. Let us make sure that we establish startup ventures or businesses so as to earn a living. When we do that, let us then be transparent as women and even start SACCOs for further financial support and development.”
The Nnabagereka urged leaders to lead with empathy. She stated "You don't need to go to a place simply because you want popularity but you should have a purpose to serve those you lead. Those that you lead are your bosses, therefore, the moment you stand in such a leadership position then you have a duty to do what benefits the people and area that you lead."

The Buganda Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Environment and other duties in the Kingdom of Buganda Hon. Mayanja Mariam Nkalubo said that Buganda this time around is putting emphasis on enhancing the health of the people of Buganda especially the women saying "…because a healthy woman is one who can work."

The Woman MP of Masaka district Hon. Babirye Kabanda narrated to the Nnabagereka how men who have persistently neglecated their homes saying "men love children but when a woman gives birth to 5 or 6 children, the man opts to leave that woman for another one."

The Kabaka’s Chief of Buddu, Pokin Vincent Mayiga in his message said although a lot has been done by women, there are still challenges. He said "Family conflicts are still at a high rate which is mostly caused by poverty, drunkenness, and unfaithfulness."

Some of the women that attended the event thanked Nnabagereka for the various programmes she has spearheaded with a view of improving and transforming the lives of women. "As you can see, women are very happy especially today Women's Day to see Nnabagereka."

Another lady commented "Let us continue to counsel, mentor our children to be a useful generation for our country. We also need to love our Kabaka of Buganda as we our children."

The event started with a health workshop which was organized the previous evening and more than 1,000 people benefited from this activity. The Nnabagereka today first visited Kalo Amatendo in Mukungwe sub-county which portrays a home that has been looked after well. The Nnabagereka visited the homes of Florence Jingo and the owner of the home Miriam Musanje.
