Buganda Minister Hon. Joseph Kawuki during his visit to Singo County
The Ministry of Local Government in the Kingdom of Buganda has joined efforts aimed at training the Kabaka’s chiefs at all levels across the Kingdom's counties.
This week, the programme is underway in Singo County, led by the Minister for Local Government and Buganda Affairs in the Diaspora, Hon.Joseph Kawuki. On Monday, he met with sub-county leaders from the districts of Mityana and Kassanda.
He took the programme to Kyankwanzi, where a general meeting was held at the grounds of Gombolola Mutuba IV Ntwetwe. Here, he met chiefs from various sub-counties including Mutuba 9 Mulagi, Wattuba, Mutuba 15 Kyankwanzi, Mutuba 14 Nsambya, Butemba, and Gayaza.
Minister Kawuki emphasized the importance of these engagements, which are aimed at training the Kabaka’s chiefs to strengthen their service, mobilizing the people of Buganda, and ensuring that the Kingdom’s strategic programmes reach all citizens wherever they are. He also highlighted the need to build transformative leadership from the grassroots to the top, review progress, set performance targets, enhance service delivery, and hold regular meetings to discuss Kingdom matters.
He encouraged the chiefs to take pride in serving the Kabaka, but also to stop lamenting over challenges and instead focus on finding solutions. He urged them to avoid involving divisive politics in their roles, reminding them that His Majesty the Kabaka is King for all people, especially those within Buganda.

He further advised them not to be misled by everything shared on social media, but instead to follow the official Kingdom communication channels to get credible information.
He appreciated the warm welcome they gave the Kabaka during his 2017 visit, saying that memory should inspire them to be ready to receive him again in the future.
Mukwenda, Owek. Deogratious Kagimu, thanked the chiefs for their commitment to the Kabaka’s service and encouraged them to remain steadfast so that Buganda may rise to even greater heights.
