The new Bishop of West Buganda, Rt. Rev. Gaster Nsereko, during his consecration ceremony
Rt. Rev. Gaster Nsereko has been installed as the new Bishop of West Buganda at a ceremony held on Sunday in Kako, Buddu.
The Buganda Kingdom has pledged its full support for the new bishop in various development initiatives within the diocese and the kingdom.
This commitment was conveyed through a message from Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, delivered by his Second Deputy, Owek. Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa.
Owek. Nsibirwa congratulated the Christians of West Buganda on receiving their new bishop, emphasizing that Rev. Nsereko, a descendant of Nnamwama, will serve in a manner that brings glory to God.
Katikkiro Mayiga’s message stated: "I assure the Bishop that the Kingdom is ready to support him in all efforts to develop both the Diocese and Buganda."
In a special tribute, the Katikkiro also praised the outgoing bishop, Rt. Rev. Henry Katumba Tamale, for his dedicated service. He thanked him and his wife for their contributions to the development of the diocese and wished him a peaceful retirement.

The event was presided over by Archbishop Rt. Rev. Steven Kazimba Mugalu and marked the official handover from Rt. Rev. Henry Katumba Tamale to the new bishop, Rt. Rev. Gaster Nsereko.
