Hajj Hassan Kasujja Kagga has been appointed Acting County Chief of Mawokota, succeeding Hon. Sarah Nannono Kaweesi, who has been assigned to other official responsibilities. Hajj Kagga will oversee the county on an interim basis.

Hon. Sarah Nannono officially handed over her report to Hajj Kagga in the presence of the Minister for Information, Mobilization, and Kingdom Spokesperson, Hon. Israel Kazibwe Kitooke, during a ceremony held at the Mawokota County headquarters in Butoolo.

In his address, Hon. Kazibwe emphasized that the Kingdom has no conflict with any of its servants who have previously served or aspire to serve in leadership roles. He, however, urged them to exercise humility and care when handing over official responsibilities. The Minister added that Kingdom service should always be conducted in peace and mutual respect as a reflection of loyalty to His Majesty the Kabaka. He commended Hon. Nannono for her dignified and transparent handover of office.

Hon. Kazibwe also called upon the people of Mawokota to support Hajj Hassan Kagga and his deputy, Mr. Godfrey Pizaroh Mujjuzi, in their duties. He further noted that a true leader in the Kingdom should listen to the people, remain humble, stay focused on progress, and maintain harmony with colleagues — all in honor of the Throne (Nnamulondo).

During the handover, Hon. Sarah Nannono presented a detailed report outlining the key achievements during her tenure as County Chief. These included the renovation of the county headquarters and the official residence known as Musaale, the recovery of some Kingdom properties, the installation of security lights to enhance safety, the promotion of sports and youth activities, the construction of a perimeter fence around the county grounds, the installation of protective nets around the premises, and the protection of the Kabaka’s land, coffee plantations, and other assets.

Upon assuming office, Hajj Hassan Kagga appealed to all residents and Kingdom subjects in Mawokota to support him in fulfilling his duties and pledged to serve the Kabaka faithfully, diligently, and transparently.

As is customary, Hon. Nannono had earlier notified Kamalabyonna (the Katikkiro’s Office), the Kingdom’s administrative authority, about her reassignment by national leadership and remained in office until the formal handover was completed.

During the event, Hon. Kazibwe was accompanied by BUCADEF Executive Director, Omuk. Alfred Bakyuusa, Local Government Liaison Officer, Mr. Harris Lubega, and several other guests who attended the ceremony.
