Oweek. Patrick Luwaga Mugumbule launching the book Buganda Ensi Mirembe

At the launch of the book Buganda Ensi Mirembe at Tal Cottages in Lubaga, the Speaker of the Buganda Parliament, Hon. Patrick Luwaga Mugumbule, delivered a message commending the authors for their dedication to thorough research in writing the book.

He highlighted that writing a book is time-consuming and requires careful research, consultation, and reading works by other authors to gather accurate historical facts.

He took the opportunity to thank the author of the book, Omutaka Walusimbi Kasolo Ben, for opening people’s eyes by documenting history and enabling readers to appreciate it. The Speaker further pointed out that although many people read books, they tend to prefer those that reflect their personal life experiences.

The author of the book “Buganda Ensi Mirembe”, Omutaka Walusimbi Kasolo Ben, while explaining some of the content, revealed how Buganda’s influence has spread across the African continent.

He shared that in many countries, there are places named after Baganda clans or individuals. For instance, in Malawi, there are areas called Kisitu and Muwanga, names directly linked to Baganda clans. Similar cultural and linguistic connections can be seen in countries like Namibia, South Africa, and Zambia, reflecting the spread of Baganda heritage.

He also emphasized that here in Uganda, almost every region has some connection to Buganda.

Omutaka Namwama, Augustine Kizito Mutumba, urged Baganda to cherish and prioritize their language, clans, and cultural heritage.

Other speakers at the event included Former Katikkiro Hon. Dan Muliika, Omutaka Namwama Augustine Kizito Mutumba, Hon. Israel Mayengo, and Alex Mukulu, who all emphasized the importance of preserving history through the theme “Reviving Historical Awareness.”
