The Buganda Kingdom has mourned the passing of Omulangira Paul Mawanda Kyabaggu, founder of Bukoola Chemicals. A photograph captured him as he was in life.

On behalf of the Katikkiro, the Deputy Speaker of the Buganda Parliament, Hon. Ahmed Lwasa read a message conveying condolences to the family of the late Omulangira Kyabaggu.

Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga highlighted that Omulangira Kyabaggu was among the pioneering businessmen in Kampala during the 1970s. He praised the late Omulangira’s dedication to Bukoola Chemicals, a company that greatly supported farmers with high-quality agricultural and veterinary products.

Oweek. Mayiga added that the deceased was deeply devoted to the Kingdom and to the Kabaka:

“Omulangira loved his Kabaka dearly and honored Nnamulondo. We remember him with great respect.”

Katikkiro Mayiga also commended Mrs. Margaret Kyabaggu, urging family members to uphold her example of integrity and leadership, ensuring that the legacy of Omulangira Kyabaggu continues.

The ceremony drew numerous dignitaries and citizens who celebrated the life of Omulangira Kyabaggu at St. Luke’s Church, Lubaga. Archbishop Augustine Kasujja delivered a sermon encouraging the faithful to deepen their commitment to the church, inspired by the exemplary life of Omulangira Kyabaggu.

Nnaabagereka Sylvia Nagginda, Nalinnya Sarah Kagere, and Nalinnya Agnes Nabaloga joined the congregation to honor the late Omulangira.

Mrs. Margaret Kyabaggu expressed her gratitude for her late husband’s widespread admiration and reaffirmed her commitment to continue his charitable work, especially in education and community development.

Dr. Peter Kyabaggu thanked their father for guiding them, teaching them how to engage with society responsibly, and showing them the path to contribute meaningfully to the world. He encouraged the family to carry forward Omulangira Kyabaggu’s vision.

The memorial service included the participation of Nnaabagereka Sylvia Nagginda, Nalinnya Sarah Kagere, Nalinnya Agnes Nabaloga, the late president’s deputy Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi, Katikkiros, ministers from the Royal Court, friends, and family.

Omulangira Kyabaggu will be laid to rest on Friday at Kanabulemu in Masaka Buddu.
