
Here, the Katikkiro is welcomed by the County Chief of Kyaggwe
The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, has visited coffee farmers in Kyaggwe County to intensify efforts aimed at promoting coffee farming as a means to eradicate poverty in households.
He launched this initiative in the sub-county of Nakifuma, at Ddiikwe village, where he met a farmer, Kimuli Eddy, aged 35, who cultivates on 90 acres. His farm has a variety of crops, including coffee, bananas, sugar canes, maize, and other food crops.
During this visit, the Katikkiro was accompanied by the Buganda Minister for Agriculture, Animal Industry, Fisheries, and Cooperatives, Owek. Katikkiro launches a beekeeping program
The Katikkiro also launched a program to distribute beehives to support and enhance coffee farming. Speaking from Ddiikwe and Makukuba villages, he handed over the beehives to farmers in the area.
In the same effort, he announced an initiative to plant shade trees in coffee plantations to provide cover, regulate temperature, strengthen coffee plants, and improve farm appearance.
