The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, has called upon skilled youth in the Kingdom to embrace patience as a vital virtue, emphasizing that patience is key to achieving success in their endeavors.

Speaking during a meeting with skilled youth from various sectors at Bulange, Mengo, under the theme "The Role of Skilled Youth in Shaping the Buganda We Desire," the Katikkiro highlighted the importance of resilience and patience in building meaningful progress and fostering sustainable development, as opposed to pursuing instant wealth.

He noted that one of the biggest challenges faced by the youth is the desire for quick riches, which often leads to missed opportunities to nurture their skills through time and effort. The Katikkiro remarked:

"Every young person should understand that expertise and knowledge in any field require time. The most successful teachers in life are not those in classrooms but those who consistently practice and perfect their craft over time."

He expressed delight in seeing the skilled youth gathered at Bulange and quoted a Buganda proverb:

"Nantakiika Mbuga nti eby’Embuga biriibwa baganzi" (A well-prepared person benefits most from the opportunities in the palace). Thank you for your vigilance and understanding.

Katikkiro urged the youth to remain humble, practice patience, and make good use of their skills. He stated that individuals who use their expertise wisely can secure leadership roles and earn the Kabaka's recognition and honor within the Kingdom.

He further encouraged the youth to attain excellence in their skills, enabling them to represent themselves and the Kingdom effectively on the global stage. He warned against underestimating themselves or relying on miracles for success.

The Minister for Youth, Sports, and Culture, Owek. Ssaalongo Robert Sserwanga, emphasized the pivotal role of the youth in restoring Buganda's glory. He called upon them to take active responsibility in uplifting the Kingdom to greater heights through their skills and commitment.

Dr. Aiden Michael Ssettabi, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, encouraged the skilled youth to envision a prosperous Buganda enriched by diverse expertise. He urged them to think broadly and contribute meaningfully to the Kingdom’s growth by using their skills effectively.
