Katikkiro urges heads of schools in Uganda to uplift the standard of Education

Katikkiro urges heads of schools in Uganda to uplift the standard of Education

Every year the heads of all schools in Buganda attend a seminar to find ways on how to uplift the level of education in Uganda.

This years’ seminar took place at Lubiri high school Mengo and the closure was presided over by Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga who emphasized to the heads of schools in Buganda and Uganda to put emphasis on uplifting Uganda’s standard of education education which can be attained through good governance.

The Katikkiro added that what has led to failure in the education sector is the inability to delegate. He said leaders need to have a vision, to share the vision with those that he or she leads and explain this to them so that they understand. The leader should also retain focus on the vision so that others can appreciate that the ideas and vision the leader has brought are good and work together with the leader to achieve the vision.
The Katikkiro was disheartened with the failing level of education and infrastructure with only Kampala schools being in a welcoming state whereas the schools in the villages are in a sorry state.

Hajji Twaha Kaawaase Kigongo, the Second Deputy Katikkiro and Buganda minister of Education also highlighted the poor standards in the education sector that prompted the Kabaka of Buganda to open up educational institutions at primary, secondary, vocational and tertiary level to improve the level of education.

The organiser of the meeting Cotilda Nakate Kikomeko thanked the Kabaka for promoting education in the last 25 years of his reign. The head of Lubiri High school, Immaculate Nampijja, stated that the seminar enabled them to share experiences as heads of schools and to take the insights back to their respective schools.
