📸 The Katikkiro addressing leaders of cooperative societies in Buganda
The Katikkiro of Buganda, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga, has called upon cooperative societies within the kingdom to work closely with BUCODA, Buganda's coordination body for cooperatives, in an effort to strengthen their growth strategies and development.
The Katikkiro made the remarks during a meeting with various cooperative societies including:
- Essuubiryo Zambogo SACCO
- CBS Pewosa Kyaddondo
- CBS Pewosa Busiro
- Buladde Financial Services
The gathering took place this morning at CBS Pewosa Nsindika Njake branch along Kabakanjagala Road.
He emphasized that visiting these institutions aims to foster mutual understanding and knowledge exchange, which will in turn enhance service delivery and improve people's livelihoods.
The Katikkiro encouraged cooperative leaders to innovate and expand income streams to ensure long-term profitability.

He also urged staff in these institutions to uphold the values of the kingdom by demonstrating transparency and creativity in managing members' savings and investments.
Meanwhile, Buganda’s Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, Livestock and Cooperatives, Owek. Hajji Amisi Kakomo, encouraged cooperatives to actively engage with BUCODA.
He highlighted that such partnerships could help attract financial backers, including banks and other development institutions.
Executive directors from the respective cooperatives presented performance reports and shared how they manage members’ funds. They noted increased participation in loan schemes, a key factor contributing to the steady growth of their cooperatives.
