The British High Commissioner to Uganda, H.E. Lisa Chesney MBE, visited Bulange, Mengo, to meet with Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga. The discussions focused on strengthening the relationship between Buganda and the United Kingdom.

She was welcomed by the Minister of Lands and Properties, Owek. David Mpanga, and the Head of Protocol in the Kingdom, Omuk. David Ntege. The meeting took place on Wednesday in Bulange, Mengo.

In a press briefing after the meeting, Katikkiro Mayiga emphasized that this collaboration will support initiatives to uplift the youth in Buganda and Uganda by focusing on economic empowerment and skills development.

During her visit, Katikkiro Mayiga gave the High Commissioner a tour of Bulange, including the Lukiiko Hall, where he shared the history and significance of the Kingdom's administration.

In his remarks, Katikkiro Mayiga highlighted the long-standing relationship between Buganda and the UK, tracing it back to historical agreements, including those made during the visit of Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, to Buganda in March of the previous year.

The Katikkiro noted that Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has prioritized initiatives to empower the youth, which aligns with the UK's commitment to fostering economic growth and development.

High Commissioner Chesney reiterated the importance of the partnership, highlighting Britain's focus on environmental conservation, youth empowerment, and strengthening ties with Buganda.

Accompanied by officials from the British High Commission, including Steven Bickers (Second Secretary, Political) and Keith Mutebi (Domestic Political Officer), High Commissioner Chesney expressed her readiness to work closely with Buganda on shared priorities.

This visit marks a renewed commitment to collaboration between Buganda and the UK, building on a foundation of mutual respect and shared goals for sustainable development and cultural preservation.
