The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, has officially launched the 2025–2026 Mmwanyi Terimba Year in Ssingo County.
While addressing the people of Ssingo, he emphasized that the Buganda Kingdom desires its people to live in good and decent conditions, meaning proper shelter, children attending school, and well-maintained homes.
He stated that these are signs which show that Buganda is progressing, and if people embrace coffee farming, they will be able to achieve such quality living. He further stressed that Buganda cannot prosper if its people do not have financial stability.
At Nabusolo village in Musaale Sub-county, Bulera, at the home of Mr. Ndibwami Vincent, the Katikkiro visited coffee farmers, including Edward Kalema and Juliet Nnaabateregga, a former migrant worker who used to send money to her parents to buy land. She is now a proud coffee farmer harvesting in her second consecutive season and does not regret working abroad.
The Buganda Minister for Agriculture, Animal Industry, Fisheries, and Cooperatives, Owek. Hajji Amisi Kakomo, reported that since the launch of the Mmwanyi Terimba Campaign nine years ago, coffee production has increased by 40%. He encouraged people not to relent in their effort.

The Buganda Minister for Local Government and Buganda Affairs Abroad, Owek. Joseph Kawuki, urged the people of Ssingo to take time to consult those who have already benefited from the Mmwanyi Terimba Campaign, so they too can learn and adopt best practices. He encouraged them to share this valuable information widely across Buganda.
Owek. Israel Kazibwe Kitooke, the Buganda Minister for Information, Mobilization, and the Kingdom’s Spokesperson, advised farmers to irrigate their crops to help combat drought, while also reminding them to remain united because unity holds great power.
Minister Kazibwe stressed that cooperation and solidarity are very powerful tools and that it is essential for farmers to irrigate their crops as they fight drought.
The Ssaza Chief of Ssingo, Owek. Deogratious Kagimu, informed the Katikkiro that the people of Ssingo have done their best to support themselves, but they still face the challenge of thieves who steal unripe coffee from their farms.
