The Katikkiro (Prime Minister) of Buganda, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga, has concluded his official visit to the United States, where he attended the Buganda Bumu North American Convention (BBNAC).

At Logan International Airport in Boston, the Katikkiro and his Second Deputy Prime Minister and Kingdom Treasurer, Owek. Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, were officially seen off by the Kabaka’s Representative in the State of New England (covering Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Vermont), Owek. Henry Matovu Ndawula, and BBNAC President, Omulongo Emmanuel Wasswa Kivumbi, among others.

During his visit, the Katikkiro met with members of the Kabaka’s diaspora community and delivered a special message from His Majesty the Kabaka. He also held discussions with administrators at Boston College to explore opportunities for strengthening partnerships in education.

Additionally, the Katikkiro officially installed Owek. Henry Matovu Ndawula as the regional representative for New England and engaged with students studying Luganda in Canada through the Luganda Academy. He further participated in a roundtable discussion with the Kabaka’s envoys in the region.

Ministers who accompanied the Katikkiro also carried out key assignments, including meeting with officials from Regis College in Massachusetts and holding talks with Intelimas on matters related to healthcare and the development of partnerships to provide Muteesa I Royal University students with specialized training in the health sector.

Despite their demanding schedule, the delegation found time to unwind with members of the Ugandan community, including a boat cruise and other moments of social interaction and entertainment.
