Katikkiro welcomes medical leaders as Dr. Isaac Orec pledges closer collaboration with the Kingdom to train students under the sponsorship scheme.
The heads of one of the nursing and midwifery training institutes visited the Katikkiro, where they were warmly welcomed.
They were led by the founder of the institute, Dr. Isaac Orec, who promised to establish a partnership with the Kingdom to train students nominated by the Kingdom under the sponsorship scheme.
Welcoming them, the Katikkiro said there is a great need to provide the necessary skills to doctors and midwives, because for a person to be healthy, the doctors treating them must be properly trained. It is also dangerous for someone to call themselves a nurse without proper training. Proper education helps medical professionals provide the necessary care, understand patients’ conditions, and deliver effective treatment.
"Patient recovery starts with the doctor’s guidance, showing compassion and comfort, understanding the patient’s pain. A well-trained nurse must know that medicine is a calling. This institute is therefore highly welcome, because nursing and midwifery institutions are still very few in Uganda, yet the demand for skilled personnel is extremely high," the Katikkiro explained.
