During celebrations to mark his 70th birthday on Saturday, His Majesty Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II expressed gratitude for the ongoing medical outreach in Ssingo, where hundreds turned up for free eye check-ups, treatment, medication, and prescription glasses.

The event, held in Busimbi, Ssingo, also sets the stage for the official opening of the Muteesa II Royal Hospital, scheduled for tomorrow.

The two-day programme is being implemented by the Kingdom of Buganda in partnership with Mengo Hospital.

The Kabaka’s message was delivered by Nnaalinnya Sarah Kagere during the hospital’s opening ceremony at Busimbi, Mityana District.

“I greet you all and thank you for the work you do for Buganda. We thank God for these 70 years,” said the Kabaka in his message.

“We appreciate the people of Ssingo for their support and participation in the Kingdom’s activities.

Your health is of great importance — that is why we’ve brought these medical services closer to you here in Busimbi.

We encourage you to embrace health initiatives, get vaccinated, tested, and treated regularly.

We are committed to ensuring that the services offered at Muteesa II Hospital are of the highest quality.”

The Kabaka also stressed the need for people to benefit from qualified doctors and reliable healthcare facilities to safeguard their lives.
