His Majesty Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has called upon the people of Buganda to prioritize agriculture, livestock rearing, and environmental conservation as key pillars for the development of Buganda.
The Kabaka delivered this message through Nnaalinnya Lubuga Agnes Nabaloga during a workshop held at the Buganda Tourism Center in Mengo. The workshop was attended by County Chiefs, their deputies, and agricultural officers. It was organized by Kabaka Foundation in collaboration with Heifer International Uganda under the Dream Hub Project, which aims to improve the livelihoods of the people of Buganda.
The Kabaka emphasized that agriculture and livestock rearing play a critical role in the economic development of Buganda. He encouraged the people to lead by example and showcase best practices that uplift their communities.
His Majesty commended the Mott Foundation and Heifer International Uganda for their commitment and support toward initiatives that promote sustainable agriculture and livestock farming. He also urged County Chiefs and other leaders to intensify efforts to educate the people on modern farming practices and environmental conservation.

Key Highlights from the Workshop
- Call for Participation: The Minister for Agriculture, Cooperatives, and Trade in Buganda Kingdom, Owek. Amis Kakomo, encouraged the people of Buganda to embrace this initiative. He cited coffee farming as a prime example of how agriculture can transform lives and strengthen communities.
- Capacity Building: Kabaka Foundation's Chief Executive Officer, Omuk. Edward Kaggwa Ndagala, announced plans to establish high-standard training centers in every county to equip farmers and livestock rearers with the skills needed to thrive.
- Youth Empowerment: William Matovu, the Country Director for Heifer International Uganda, highlighted that the initiative aims to empower youth by providing opportunities to start income-generating projects, lifting many out of poverty.
The Kabaka further emphasized that this effort can bring transformative changes to Buganda and should be embraced by everyone as part of the Kingdom’s cultural and developmental heritage.
