The Katikkiro of Buganda, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga, has inaugurated a committee to oversee the celebrations for the 70th birthday of His Majesty Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.
The committee was officially launched on Friday at Bulange, Mmengo, with Owek. Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, the Second Deputy Katikkiro, as the chairperson. He is deputized by Owek. Choltilda Nakate Kikomeko, the Minister for Social Development and the Nnaabagereka’s Office.
The committee’s secretary is Omuk. Josephine Nantege, while Owek. Richard Kabanda is also a member, along with other representatives.

As the date of April 13, 2025, approaches, Buganda is preparing to celebrate Kabaka's milestone birthday as he turns 70.
In his address, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga emphasized the significance of marking the Kabaka’s birthday, reflecting on the various challenges His Majesty has overcome.
He stated that Buganda has many reasons to celebrate this occasion, as the Kabaka remains the pillar of unity within the kingdom.
In conclusion, Katikkiro Mayiga urged the organizing committee to uphold Buganda’s traditions in planning and executing the celebratory events.
He expressed gratitude to God for granting the Kabaka a long and prosperous reign and called upon all subjects of the kingdom to continue honoring and supporting their King.

Owek. Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, chairperson of the organizing committee, pledged to ensure that the celebrations are well-planned and meaningful.
He also called upon the people of Buganda to support all initiatives leading up to the grand celebration of the Kabaka’s birthday.
It should be remembered that His Majesty Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II’s 70th birthday will be celebrated on April 13, 2025.
