Heifer International, along with the King's ministers and the foundation's executive director
Kabaka Foundation has entered into a strategic partnership with Heifer International to improve people's livelihoods and protect the environment.
Through this collaboration, they will introduce solar energy solutions and establish demonstration farms in every county (Ssaza) to serve as learning centres. Additionally, they will distribute cows to boost farming activities.
This initiative is supported by the Mott Foundation, an American-based organisation that has expanded its efforts to various countries across the globe.
The Speaker of the Buganda Kingdom, Owek. Patrick Luwaga Mugumbule, on behalf of Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, welcomed the partnership.
He emphasised that Ssaabasajja Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has long advocated for improving the well-being of his subjects through initiatives such as coffee farming. The collaboration with Heifer International is set to strengthen these efforts.

William Matovu, the Country Director of Heifer International Uganda, noted that the partnership aims to uplift the lives of communities, particularly those involved in agriculture and livestock farming, ensuring they can improve their living standards and generate income from their work.
Neal Hegarty, Vice President of the Mott Foundation, explained that the foundation began its activities in Tanzania in 2015, focusing on environmental conservation, quality education, economic development, and more.
Their collaboration with Heifer International Uganda aligns with their mission of working with like-minded organisations to bring about positive change.
The partnership agreement was signed by Edward Kaggwa Ndagala on behalf of Kabaka Foundation and William Matovu for Heifer International.
The event was witnessed by Kabaka Foundation board members, including Owek. Amb. Bill Matovu, Omuk. Peter Mpanga, Owek. Christopher Bwanika, Owek. Hajji Amisi Kakomo, Omuk. Douglas Mukiibi, and BUCADEF Executive Director Yahaya Mutumba.
