The Katikkiro, Charles Peter Mayiga, delivers a message from His Majesty Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II to the faithful at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Lubaga.
Kabaka congratulates the Archbishop and all Christians as Lubaga Cathedral marks 100 years.
The Kabaka’s message read:
*"We greet you all and congratulate the Archbishop, the head of the clergy, and all Christians on the 100th anniversary of Lubaga Cathedral, which has served to teach our people faith, peace, and unity.
History shows that since King Muteesa I, the Church and the Buganda Kingdom have coexisted in freedom, working together and consulting each other for the good of our people. This partnership has borne fruit, producing leaders who have served both the Kingdom and our country well, and we wish to maintain this relationship.
We are proud of how the Church has delivered the ministry and voice of Christ through schools, hospitals, monasteries, and other initiatives. We know this work would not be possible without strong leadership and the dedication of Christians. We are therefore grateful to all who continue to support these efforts to improve the lives of ordinary people.
The Church has also courageously spoken against oppression, discrimination, and injustice, whether based on faith, race, or political opinion. In defending truth, freedom, unity, and human rights, we ask the Church to continue this vital role."*

*"Let us encourage our people, especially the youth, not to be misled by power or bribery. It is time for all of us to raise our voices, urging leaders and fellow Ugandans to address dissatisfaction in leadership and ensure fair sharing of the country’s resources, guided by the Constitution and national laws.
We once again congratulate you on this historic day and thank all who contributed to the restoration of this Church. We pray that the partnership between the Church and the Buganda Kingdom will continue to flourish."*
The Katikkiro added that 100 years represents a milestone of strength and achievement. He praised the pioneers who built churches, schools, and other institutions with care and dedication, and encouraged people to revive this spirit of excellence and patience: "We have rekindled the spirit of ambition, and great things are possible."
