The much-anticipated Kabaka Birthday Run 2025 is set to begin, with all preparations now complete. In just a few hours, thousands across Buganda will take part in this year’s event to honour Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, who turns 70.

The Buganda Kingdom has confirmed that all arrangements for the Kabaka Birthday Run 2025 are in place, with the event scheduled for this Sunday across the Kingdom.

The First Deputy Katikkiro, Owek. Prof. Twaha Kaawaase, announced that only participants wearing the official “Kabaka Birthday Run 2025” kit will be allowed into the race areas.

He emphasized that the run is dedicated to celebrating the Kabaka’s life, promoting public health, and raising awareness about malaria prevention, environmental conservation, and sanitation.

Security forces have assured the public of safety and order at all locations. Prof. Kaawaase warned against political messaging, theft, or any form of misconduct during the event.

The Kabaka Birthday Run is one of the Kingdom’s signature events, and this year’s edition holds special significance as it marks Kabaka Mutebi’s 70th birthday.

Throughout Buganda, altars were set up in the palaces of the provinces, districts, and other areas. The Kabaka's people were educated on the Kabaka's health, AIDS and malaria prevention, welfare, and environmental conservation.
