Minister Choltilda Nakate Kikomeko arrives and welcomes the participants of Ekisaakaate
Over 600 youth participants (Abasaakaate) have officially embarked on their journey today from Bulange, Mmengo, heading to Janan School in Bombo, Bulemeezi. This will serve as the base for this year’s Ekisaakaate, which runs from January 4 to January 18 under the theme: “Integrating Culture and Technology.”
The Minister in charge of the Nnaabagereka’s Office, Owek. Choltilda Nakate Kikomeko, led the send-off ceremony at the main Bulange grounds.
In her remarks, she applauded parents for embracing this initiative and assured them that the youth will be exposed to a diverse curriculum, including:
- Human values and character building to foster collaboration and respect,
- Buganda’s culture and traditions, and
- Technology, which is essential in today’s ever-evolving world.
Parents proudly accompany their children in large numbers to participate in Ekisaakaate 2025
The CEO of the Nnaabagereka Development Foundation, Omuk. Adrian Mukiibi, elaborated on this year’s theme, emphasizing the need for culture and technology to coexist to prevent the erosion of traditional values.
He explained that modern times demand a strong understanding of technology, which raises the question of how best to preserve cultural heritage amidst global changes.
According to Omuk. Mukiibi, the participants will be equipped with skills to understand technology and seamlessly integrate it with their cultural values, ensuring they appreciate their heritage while inspiring others to do the same.
The Principal Facilitator (Ssaabagunjuzi) of Ekisaakaate, Owek. Rashid Lukwago, highlighted that this year’s theme is designed to help the youth discover their potential in leveraging technology to enhance and promote cultural identity.

At Janan School, a variety of workshops have been organized, to be conducted by over 100 expert facilitators.
Her Royal Highness the Nnaabagereka is expected to visit the children and personally lead some sessions. Similarly, the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, along with other dignitaries, will also visit to teach the children and emphasize the importance of cultural heritage and human values in the Buganda Kingdom
Ekisaakaate 2025 will run for two weeks, from January 4 to January 18, bringing together boys and girls aged 6-18. Participants will receive training in various disciplines, focusing on character, teamwork, culture, traditions, and technology.
