Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, the UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador for ending AIDS in men across Africa, has intensified efforts to reduce the impact of HIV among communities.
His Majesty emphasizes the theme, “Men Are Stars in Fighting HIV/AIDS to Save the Girl Child,” urging men to take a leading role in combating and eradicating the disease.
This theme is the foundation for many of Buganda's major activities, including the Kabaka Birthday Run, Masaza Football Cup, Bika Football and Netball Tournaments, and the Royal Boat Regatta, among others.
These initiatives aim to amplify the message of health leadership by inspiring communities to embrace responsible and healthy living while fighting HIV/AIDS through sustainable strategies that foster long-term societal development in Buganda.
To reinforce this mission, Buganda leverages various platforms to educate and engage the public on health issues. Traditional community gatherings, health camps, marathons, and media channels like radio and television play a crucial role in spreading the message.
These avenues help men and boys understand the importance of regular health check-ups, including HIV testing, making them active participants in safeguarding their health and that of others.
We continue to emphasize messages such as “Take the Right Path: My Health, My Right!” as we work toward eliminating HIV/AIDS in Buganda and globally by 2030.
We are confident that messages like “Start the Right Journey: My Health, My Power!” inspire transformative changes, encouraging individuals to stay proactive, collaborate, and prioritize regular health screenings.
Achieving the goal of eliminating HIV/AIDS will require effective strategies, strong leadership, and a collective commitment to promoting healthy and sustainable living.
The world can eliminate AIDS by 2030.
