The Buganda Kingdom has announced plans to increase the number of nursery and early childhood schools across all counties, as part of efforts to strengthen children’s education from the foundational level.

While addressing school board leaders at Bulange, Mengo, the Kingdom’s Minister for Community Development and head of the Office of the Nnaabagereka, Hon. Choltilda Nakate Kikomeko, said counties with available land should write to the Kingdom to be allocated more nursery schools.

Hon. Nakate noted that without early education, the Kingdom risks facing long-term challenges of underdevelopment and ignorance.

The Coordinator for Education in the Ministry of Community Development, Dr. Leticia Nakimuli, urged school leaders to engage parents and mobilise them to enrol their children in these Kingdom-established schools.

The head teacher of Lubiri High School – Buloba Campus, Omuk. Gitta Amos, who served as lead facilitator at the meeting, discussed school leadership, financial management, staff relations, and other governance issues that will guide the running of the new schools.
