The Ministry of Environment, Nature, Water and Population Development in Buganda has organized a workshop for men at the county headquarters in Busiro.

The event brought together leaders from various sub-counties and parishes across the county to discuss men's roles in community development.

The workshop was led by Mr. Hassan Ssekajoolo, head of the Men’s Affairs Committee within the ministry, who emphasized the critical role of men in reducing inequality and promoting inclusive development in Buganda.

Mr. Mathias Mulumba also addressed participants, highlighting how men and youths can contribute to the Kingdom’s five strategic priorities (Ssemasonga).

As part of efforts to strengthen ministry initiatives, participants identified several key action areas, including:

  • Launching radio and television programmes to educate men and boys about their responsibilities
  • Strengthening local committees to ensure grassroots engagement
  • Supporting boys' education by promoting access to quality and inclusive learning opportunities

The Deputy Secretary General, Mr. Vincent Kayongo, commended the Men’s Committee for organizing the workshop, noting that such initiatives play a vital role in preparing men to take greater responsibility in families, leadership, and community development.
