The Prime Minister welcoming former President of Nigeria Dr. Good luck Jonathan
The Buganda Kingdom warmly welcomed former Nigerian President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, who praised the Kingdom for its efforts in advancing its people’s development.
Dr. Jonathan was received by the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, at the main palace of the Kingdom, Bulange Mengo.
The visit aimed to foster collaboration between the Buganda Kingdom and Nigeria on various matters of mutual interest.
Accompanying Dr. Jonathan was the Traditional Ruler of the Binin Kingdom, King Amalate J. Turner, along with several other dignitaries.
The Katikkiro expressed gratitude to Dr. Jonathan for being a role model to other leaders, particularly for the significant development strides that placed Nigeria ahead of South Africa and Egypt in terms of progress.
He also commended Dr. Jonathan's leadership transition after completing his term.
The royal family was represented by Nnaalinnya Dinna Kigga, Princess Sarah Katrina Ssangalyambogo, and Prince Felix Muteesa.
On behalf of the Buganda Kingdom, the Second Deputy Katikkiro and Kingdom Treasurer, Owek. Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, Speaker of the Buganda Lukiiko, Owek. Patrick Luwaga Mugumbule, Minister for Cabinet Affairs and the Katikkiro's Office, Minister for Land and Properties, Owek. David Mpanga, Vice-Chancellor of Muteesa I Royal University, and other kingdom officials and servants were present.
