The Buganda Kingdom expressed deep condolences to Sir Prof. Gordon Wavamunno on the loss of his eldest son, Joe Kayima Wavamunno.
Joe passed away in Thailand last Saturday, after tragically slipping and falling in the bathroom. He was laid to rest.
Joe had travelled to Thailand with his wife, who was undergoing medical treatment.
In a message of condolence from Mengo, the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, conveyed his sympathies through his Second Deputy, Owek. Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, who read the message at Nakwero, where Joe Kayima Wavamunno was laid to rest.
Katikkiro Mayiga praised the late Joe Kayima for his dedication and expertise in managing the various enterprises started by his father, Sir Prof. Gordon Wavamunno.
He also thanked God for the life Joe lived and the contributions he made during his time on earth.
Katikkiro further expressed his appreciation to Prof. Wavamunno for instilling a strong work ethic in his children and encouraging them to serve Buganda and Uganda as a whole.
Katikkiro also extended his condolences to Omutaka Katongole, head of the Ente Clan, on the loss of his clansman, and to the entire family and relatives of Joe Kayima Wavamunno.
He noted that Joe would be fondly remembered for his humility, good character, and his ability to work well with others.
The burial ceremony of Joe Kayima Wavamunno was attended by several dignitaries, including Nnaalinya Lubuga Agnes Nabaloga, Nnaalinya Sarah Kagere, Prince David Kintu Wasajja, Owek. Hajj Ahmed Lwasa, Owek. Christopher Bwanika, Owek. Daudi Mpanga, Owek. Mutaasa Kafeero, chiefs representing the Kabaka, leaders from the central government, and many other prominent figures.
