The Buganda Kingdom has completed a three-day training program for nursery school teachers at its newly established nursery schools located at county headquarters (Amasaza).

The teachers were equipped with resources, including books, uniforms, chairs, and learning aids for children in the classrooms.

Previously, His Majesty the Kabaka approved the establishment of early childhood education programs within the kingdom, starting at the nursery level, to directly benefit young children through the Kingdom’s education initiatives.

While awarding the teachers their completion certificates, the Minister for Information, Mobilization, and Kingdom Spokesperson, Owek. Israel Kazibwe Kitooke, encouraged the graduates to demonstrate professionalism and a change in attitude.

He reminded them that they now serve the Kabaka, and as such, they must set an example for others, work diligently, and foster love and care for the children. He also urged them to avoid negligence and help shape children into valuable members of society.

The Minister for Education and Community Development, Owek. Choltilda Nakate Kikomeko, noted that the Ministry is committed to improving the quality of education among the people, as outlined by His Majesty the Kabaka.

Citing statistics, Owek. Choltilda highlighted that Uganda still has a low percentage of children enrolled in nursery education compared to neighboring countries.

She emphasized that no nation can thrive without a strong foundation in education, which is why the Kingdom has prioritized training nursery teachers to improve early childhood education.

The ceremony was held at Muteesa I Royal University in Kakeeka, Mengo.
