Buganda Kingdom has approved a 305 billion shillings budget for the 2025–2026 financial year. The budget was presented by the Buganda Kingdom Treasurer, Hon. Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, and was approved by members of the Buganda Lukiiko.
This budget places significant emphasis on prioritizing youth development in education, agriculture, technology, and employment.
Funding for the budget will come from various sources, including busuulu (land tax or rent on Kabaka’s land), envujjo (annual ground rent paid by tenants to mailo landowners), kanzu (traditional buganda tax), luwalo (voluntary community contributions), and debt owed by the Government.
Out of the 305 billion shillings, the Kingdom plans to spend 304 billion on implementing various programs, such as the Mmwanyi Terimba coffee initiative, supporting Buganda Kingdom health facilities, completing and renovating the Kabaka’s palaces, improving education, paying staff salaries, strengthening clan affairs, among many other activities.
