The new board was unveiled by Charles Peter Mayiga, the Katikiro of Buganda Kingdom.
He tasked the Buganda Cultural and Development Foundation (BUCADEF) to start encouraging women and youth to get involved in farming, especially rice.
The keeper of the crown says women and youth are privileged in bringing about real development - while youth also have a long term benefit from the crop.
Katikkiro also encouraged people to irrigate crops by sprinkling water and emphasised the importance of the use of machines in agriculture.
He also outlined the following;-
People should be educated about the steps involved in growing rice, people to drink coffee.
People should be taught how to farm in shallow areas and adoption of cooperatives among farmers, as togetherness makes work easier and faster.
Encouraged farmers to improve the quality of their homes to make them look better.
Katikkiro was speaking at the inauguration of the new BUCADEF board headed by Dr. Benson Ssekamatte who succeeded Hajji Ishak Lukenge.
Dr. Benon Ssekamatte is the new board chairperson of Buganda Cultural and Development Foundation-BUCADEF. Other members are Saul Kaye as deputy Vice chairperson, Erias The Best Of Erias, Edward Ssenkindu, Rosette Pottery,Jenah Is A Gift and Dr. A.S. Emma Naluyima.
