Buganda Clan Leaders Representatives with the Office of Kabaka's Representative in UK & Ireland would like to invite you to 3rd Buganda Clans Convention (UK) scheduled to take place on 27th June 2020 at Harris Academy Peckham, 112 Peckham Rd, London SE15 5DZ.
We would like to thank all those who managed to attend the 2nd Buganda Clans Convention in June 2019. The clan leaders who came to visit their grandchildren (bazukkulu) were really happy to see so many of you.
Buganda has 56 clans and these constitute the most important unit of its culture, where each individual belongs to a clan and each clan is headed by a leader known as “Omutaka”.
The main purpose of the Convention is to enable Clan Leaders to meet with their respective clan members in the UK to:
- Educate/remind Baganda in UK about Buganda’s Patriarch Clan Systems.
- Inculcate knowledge of their ancestral lineage, heritage, positive cultural norms and values to especially Baganda children born and raised in the Diaspora.
- Re-enforce the importance of a responsible citizen message which Baganda parents, resident in the UK are trying to pass on to their children.
- Enable Baganda Community in the UK to meet their respective clan leaders (some for the first time).
- Reinforce Buganda’s family values and cultural identity
EXPECTED CLAN LEADERS: Last year the event was graced with clan leaders for Mbogo, Nakinsige, Njovu, Ngabi, Nvuma, Kkobe, Ffumbe and Lugave clans. This year we expect even more.
