The Kingdom of Buganda has welcomed Sir Geoffrey Vos, the Master of the Rolls and Head of Civil Justice for England and Wales, during his official visit to Uganda.

Sir Geoffrey was received by Owek. Christopher Bwanika, Buganda’s Attorney General (in the absence of the Katikkiro who is currently on duty in the United States), and Owek. Israel Kazibwe Kitooke, Buganda Minister for Information, Mobilization, and the Kingdom Spokesperson.

Owek. Bwanika stated that “hosting the head of the civil justice of England and Wales is no small feat.

This visit reflects Buganda’s esteemed global relations and the strong leadership of the Kingdom. It shows that Buganda and its institutions are indeed of great value.”

Owek. Bwanika extended his appreciation to the legal delegation for visiting Uganda to attend the Commercial Courts Summit, the first of its kind on the African continent, held at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

Before returning home, the delegates made time to visit key cultural sites of the Buganda Kingdom.

Sir Geoffrey expressed deep gratitude for the Kingdom’s warm reception and praised Buganda’s hospitality, cultural development, and growing tourism sector, calling them “remarkable and historically significant.”

The Attorney General led the guests on a cultural tour, which included: Bulange, the seat of the Kingdom’s Cabinet, the Buganda Parliament chamber, Twekobe and Mengo Palace, Kabaka’s Lake and Kasubi Royal Tombs.

Sir Geoffrey Vos is the Head of the Civil Justice System and presides over the Court of Appeal (Civil Division) in the Royal Courts of Justice in London.

He holds the prestigious title of Master of the Rolls, second only to the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales.

He was accompanied by: Justice Tijjani Abubakar (Supreme Court of Nigeria), Justice Nnamdi Dimgba (Court of Appeal, Nigeria), Mr. Emmanuel Jani Finnodoro (Trade and Business Specialist, Africa House, London), Mr. Omid Reza Nazari (Personal Aide to Sir Geoffrey), HW.
