The ceremony to inaugurate Oweek. Godfrey Kibuuka and Abakungu into their service as Kabaka's representatives in the UK and Ireland was presided over by Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, with assistance from the Minister for Local Government, Visits, and Buganda’s Foreign Affairs, Oweek. Joseph Kawuki, in the UK.

During the inauguration, the Katikkiro urged them to uphold integrity and not be swayed by mere gossip or criticism, emphasising that people will always talk, whether about success or failure.

However, he stressed that true leadership is demonstrated through actions, not words, and encouraged them to find innovative ways to tackle challenges.

He reminded them that a leader must have the courage to do what is right, implementing decisions and adjusting if necessary.

He also reiterated the importance of perseverance in this current era of Buganda’s restoration and emphasised that challenges should be met with creative solutions, not complaints.

The Katikkiro challenged them to contribute more to Buganda’s development by increasing their annual contributions beyond the 21 million UGX given last year, which is equivalent to what a single sub-county in Buganda would contribute.

Regarding social media, he advised leaders not to rely solely on it for their work but instead to sit down with their people, exchange ideas, and make decisions that can be implemented.

He reassured them that social media rumours are not worth their time, as they are often baseless, and truth will eventually prevail.

He urged Oweek. Kibuuka and his deputies collaborate with other local leaders to make service delivery more efficient. He emphasised unity among leaders, stating that strength lies in teamwork, especially under the guidance from Mengo.

Katikkiro also congratulated the winners of the Buganda clan competitions and thanked the organisers of the Buganda-European convention for their excellent planning.

This ceremony marked the conclusion of the second day of the ongoing European Buganda convention in the UK.
