Prayers underway at the cultural shrines

Princes and royal custodians from various clans under the Traditional and Cultural Belief System gathered at the Jinja Mawuuno shrine and the Kato Mayanja Twin Shrine in Sseguku, Kyaddondo, to thank the Creator for the achievements of the year 2025.

The prayers were led by the Head of the Royal Lineage and Chairperson of the Cultural and Traditional Council in the Kingdom, Prince Ssaalongo Edirisa Luwangula Basajjansolo, who said the gatherings symbolise the Kingdom’s commitment to developing and upgrading all cultural shrines to acceptable standards.

Prince Luwangula criticised individuals who ridicule and undermine cultural traditions, saying such critics often lack understanding of their own origins. He added that instead of attacking tradition, they should be open to learning about their heritage and cultural values.

He further emphasised the importance of thanking the Creator and offering prayers at the Wasswa and Kato Mayanja Twin Shrine in Sseguku, based on the belief that the twins are spiritual custodians who remove obstacles and misfortune. He noted that this has informed the decision to renovate and restore cultural shrines, especially under the Kingdom’s ongoing cultural restoration programme.

The prayer session was attended by Mr Gaggawala of Biggy Herbal Clinic in Kajjansi, traditional music artist Mr Kiggundu Basajjabaka, Jjajja Budhagaali from Busoga, as well as several princes and royal custodians from different cultural sites.
