The Buganda Kingdom Minister for Youth, Sports and Recreation, Owek. Robert Serwanga, has inspected the offices and staff of Essuubiryo Zambogo SACCO, praising the work that has been done to improve the operations of the savings and credit cooperative.
During the visit, Owek. Serwanga thanked the staff and leadership for restoring members’ confidence, noting that the SACCO is now demonstrating transparency and modern management practices in the way it runs its operations.
He added that these efforts have helped strengthen the institution among the privately run financial bodies operating under the Buganda Kingdom.
Following the #SitulaOmutindo Theme
The minister urged the staff and leaders of the SACCO to remain committed to the Kingdom’s new initiative #SitulaOmutindo (“Raise the Standard”).
He said the theme should not remain only a slogan but must be reflected in how members are served and how their savings are safeguarded.
“Raising the standard means making this SACCO a model for other institutions to follow. We want services characterised by professionalism, efficiency and trust,” Owek. Serwanga said.

Warning on the Use of Members’ Funds
Owek. Serwanga emphasised that members’ money is a serious responsibility and must never be mishandled.
He urged:
- Staff to avoid poor service practices and treat members with respect, reminding them that the members are the rightful owners of the SACCO.
- Borrowing members to repay their loans on time, noting that the SACCO can only grow if members maintain responsible financial discipline.
The SACCO’s Objectives
Essuubiryo Zambogo SACCO aims to support young people and the Kabaka’s subjects in starting businesses and developing a culture of saving.
Leaders say the initiative strengthens the Kingdom’s broader programmes aimed at improving the economic well-being of the people of Buganda.
