The last funeral rites for the late Head of the Endiga Clan, Eng. Daniel Bbosa Kakeedo—who was tragically killed—were held at his home in Kikandwa, Lungujja, Kyaddondo.
His son, Emmanuel Ssewagudde, was installed as his bloodline heir, while his elder son, Kalyesuubula Bruce Bbosa, assumed leadership of the Namusota sub-clan under the Endiga Clan, previously led by their father.
A condolence message from the Katikkiro of Buganda, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga, was delivered by Owek. Patrick Luwaga Mugumbule, Speaker of the Buganda Lukiiko. In his message, the Katikkiro expressed regret for being unable to attend and thanked the family for organising the ceremony.
“Last Funeral Rites is a cultural ceremony of joy because it marks the installation of an heir and brings closure to mourning,” said Katikkiro Mayiga.
The Katikkiro also thanked God for Eng. Bbosa’s life and his service to his clan, the Kabaka, and the Buganda Kingdom. He welcomed the new heir, encouraging him to be a unifier, strengthen clan unity, love and serve the Endiga Clan, participate in its programmes, and emulate his father’s leadership.
Owek. Mugumbule described the late Bbosa as a humble and responsible leader who faithfully served his family, clan, and Kingdom. He urged clan heads to mobilise their descendants to engage in cultural activities.

Speaking for the Council of Clan Heads, Omutaka Nakigoye Nabbimba Lukabya Samson, Head of the Ekinyomo Clan, praised Bbosa’s faithful service as Treasurer of the Council. He thanked the family for demonstrating that religion and tradition can coexist, and condemned those who use religion to attack culture.
He called on Baganda to support traditional ceremonies like the Last Funeral Rites and to help heirs fulfil their roles, stressing the importance of preserving Buganda’s culture.
Omutaka Lwomwa Eria Buzaabo Lwasi, current Head of the Endiga Clan, emphasised the dignity of the ceremony and its role in healing. He advised the heir:
“Do not rush decisions; seek counsel and handle your new authority with care while honouring your father’s name.”
He pledged to continue and expand the late Bbosa’s work for the clan’s growth.
Omutaka Kiyingi Paul, Minister of Culture for the Endiga Clan, highlighted Bbosa’s respected legacy, saying his life reflected the proverb: “You reap what you sow.”
Omutaka Kalyesuubula Bruce Bbosa, newly installed head of the Namusota lineage, thanked the clan heads and community for their support and pledged to continue learning and serving.
The widow, Gladys Bbosa, thanked God for sustaining her family and recalled narrowly surviving the attack that claimed her husband’s life. She appealed for ongoing solidarity and support.
The late Bbosa’s children also expressed gratitude for the community’s prayers and presence since their father’s passing.
Eng. Daniel Kakeedo Bbosa was born on March 23, 1955. He served as head of the Namusota lineage and led the Endiga Clan as Lwomwa for 17 years until his tragic death on February 25, 2024. He is succeeded by Lwomwa Eria Buzaabo Lwasi, the current Clan Head.
