Kingdom celebrates world environment day

Kingdom celebrates world environment day

The ceremonies were held at the Ssaabawaali Gombe district court, Kyaddondo today, and the Katikkiro urged people to rise up against the destruction of wetlands in the name of development, and to fight for federalism, for the people to protect their environment.

The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of water for all kinds of health, as well as improving health conditions, by using it for cleanliness and fighting diseases caused by pollution.

He condemned those who dump garbage and pollution in the wetlands who he said are the main culprits in damaging them and blocking water sources and urged the government not to allow people to settle in the wetlands on the pretext of poverty.

The government has warned that oil drilling and gold mining will not help Ugandans unless it tightens laws against environmentalists, saves springs, and has enough clean water.
