Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga has urged married couples to ensure that each partner fulfils their responsibilities, saying this helps to prevent misunderstandings and promotes happiness in marriage.
He made the remarks at Kibuli Mosque while attending the Nikkah ceremony of Manisurah Nakazinga Nambi Kaawaase and Khalil Wavamunno Mugenyi, who officially began their journey of marriage today.
Katikkiro Mayiga wished the newlyweds a successful and happy marriage and encouraged each partner to make an effort to ensure the happiness of the other, while upholding mutual respect.
He also commended the parents of the bride, led by Owek. Prof. Twaha Kaawaase Kigongo, the First Deputy Katikkiro, and the parents of the groom, Elvis Wavamunno, together with the mothers, for raising their children well and preparing them for marriage.
Prof. Twaha Kaawaase Kigongo, the bride’s father, advised the couple to always practise open communication, noting that this is key to sustaining a lasting marriage.
The Nikkah ceremony was officiated by Sheikh Abdul-Salaamu Mutyaba, who encouraged the couple to constantly remember one another in prayer and to remain steadfast in observing Swalah at home to ensure stability in their family life.
