The Buganda Minister of Culture and Traditional Affairs, Hon. Dr. Anthony Wamala, praised the work done by the Abannyomo while fulfilling his promise to return to the homeland of the Kinyomo clan at Kyasa Zzimwe in Kyanamukaka sub-county, Buddu.
The Minister first visited the Clan Palace and Kawannaku Palace, where descendants gather to report achievements and challenges to their ancestors. He commended the efforts to beautify the grounds and encouraged the elders to invite the younger generation to come home and see the improvements.
Minister Wamala thanked the community for the renovations, noting the significant improvements since his last visit. He urged them to maintain the installations, including watering trees, caring for fences, and preserving other facilities.
He also stressed honesty and transparency in handling funds, urging responsible management so that future generations gain confidence to contribute further.
Namwama Augustine Kizito Mutumba, Chairperson of the Bataka Council, said that to attract descendants and others to the clan land, the community should actively promote cultural values, including speaking Luganda at home, wearing traditional attire, and showing love for their heritage.
The head of the Kinyomo clan, Omutaka Nakigoye Lukabya Nabimba Samson, thanked the Minister for his guidance on developing the Mbuga. He said the clan is working to improve the site and create safe spaces for community gatherings, hoping it will attract visitors from across the country.
Owek. John Kankaka, chief of the Mawogola Muteesa area and First Deputy Chief, pledged to work closely with the clan, particularly in efforts to revive and strengthen it.
The Katikkiro of the clan, Mr. Peter Ssenkungu Kigoye, emphasized the importance of educating descendants about their heritage and strengthening leadership within the clan.
The meeting was attended by the Katikkiro and his deputies, including Owek. John Kankaka, Mr. Alex Kalinzi, Culture and Traditional Affairs Coordinator Mr. Patrick Sseruwagi, Books and Research Coordinator Ms. Shifah Namubiru, and other clan members.
