The Buganda Kingdom has called on the government to stop levying taxes on items used by people with disabilities.
The appeal was made by Minister for the Lukiiko, Cabinet and Office of the Katikkiro, Owek. Noah Kiyimba, during the Hope Run organized by Corsu Hospital for children with disabilities and those with fractures.
The event was held at Makerere University Business School (MUBS) in Nakawa.

Minister Kiyimba said people with disabilities face many challenges because essential equipment is expensive, and public spaces—including hospitals, schools, shops, and parking areas—are often inaccessible.
He urged that such equipment be made tax-free and called for increased budget allocations to support disability programs nationwide.
Ochai Robert, executive director of Corsu Hospital, said the run was organized to raise funds for treatment, equipment, and building repairs. This year, the hospital needs UGX 400 million to meet these objectives.
Captain Mike Mukula served as the chief facilitator of the event.
