Kingdom Launches Official E-Commerce Initiative
MENGO, KAMPALA
In a historic effort to modernize the Kingdom’s economic framework, the Katikkiro of Buganda, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga, is set to officially launch “KIBUGA,” a powerful new online commerce platform.
The launch, held under the banners #CityOnlineLaunch and #RaiseTheStandard, forms part of the Kingdom’s strategic development agenda aimed at innovation-driven growth and poverty reduction in 2026.
The term Kibuga, traditionally referring to the Luganda word for “city” or the historic administrative centre of the Kabaka’s government, now takes on a digital identity as the Kingdom’s premier online marketplace.
A One-Stop Digital Platform for the Modern Muganda
Developed in partnership with K2 Telecom, KIBUGA is designed to serve as a reliable and accessible platform for customers in Uganda and abroad.
